A platformer level inspired by games of the past, such as Banjo Kazooie and Conker. I utilized the unity Boxy assets, and heavily modified the code to suit my needs. The end result is a plucky and fun map that spans forest, lava cavern and mountaintops. The goal was approximately 5 minutes of gameplay, with a relatively low difficulty.
Flow was extremely important in order to make the player enjoy they progress through the various biomes. To this end, a clear path was defined (and helped along with gem pickups as guides) through visuals. Verticality was especially useful in providing interest and agency to the player, allowing for various approaches to many situations through platforming and creative use of abilities.
