Dual Universe, a product of Novaquark, is a spacefaring MMO centered on social systems, market simulation, building, and complex physics. These aspects all combine to produce a truly unique experience that blends the creativity of Minecraft with the depth of Eve Online.
Level Design on this project was largely centered around the First-Time user experience, with a focus on tutorials and gameplay guidance. Careful planning, thorough documentation and rapid prototyping were all necessary to ensure the highest quality of added content. Puzzles and events were a part of this as well.
- • Using in-house development tools, created voxel-based structures, tutorials, levels, events and spacecraft for use in a massively multiplayer online experience;
- • Designed and prototyped interactive gameplay elements (Puzzles, Trade/Stock Market, Interfaces)
- • Created scripts for in-game features (tutorials, trading)
- • Wrote focused documentation on game features, levels and mechanics
- • Designed in-game assets with Photoshop, Hexels3 and Aseprite for use in UI, in-game display screens and social hubs.
- • Created HTML and css templates for use within in-game elements tied to player interaction (maps, displays, interactive menus etc)
- • Localization of French text to English.
